The Senators are ready to go to battle with restricted free agents Peter Regin and Chris Campoli.

While contract talks are continuing with representatives for the Senators winger and defenceman, respectively, GM Bryan Murray indicated those discussions are going nowhere and he expects both cases will go to arbitration.

Regin is scheduled to go before an arbitrator Friday in Toronto at 9 a.m., while Campoli’s case is set for next Wednesday.

“Not much has happened,” said Murray.

Murray said he has made a fair offer to the 24-year-old Regin — who made $620,000 last season and will get a big raise after scoring 13 goals and adding 16 assists in 75 games — but that his camp hasn’t been willing to budge.

Campoli, 26, is coming off a season in which he scored 18 points in 67 games while making $675,000.

“I don’t want to overpay them, but I certainly don’t want to underpay them. I want to be fair,” said Murray. “We obviously think their request is higher than we want to pay.”

Gushing over Gonchar

Making an appearance at his hockey camp at the Ray Friel Centre in Orleans on Wednesday, C Mike Fisher told reporters he’s looking forward to the season with D Sergei Gonchar on board.

“I’m excited. Our team with him on the power play and what he can do getting the forwards the puck,” said Fisher.

“We’ve got a lot of young guys that are going to push for spots. We lost a few guys, but I think we’re going to be a better team. We’re all excited about building on some of the progress we made last year.”
